Drum Roll Please: Risography for all!

Leland Vaughan

About the Artist

Leland Vaughan is a printmaker, illustrator, graphic designer, and educator based in Portland, OR. They co-own Outlet PDX, a risograph press and community space, where they get to print, teach, and nerd out about printmaking and zines to anyone who will listen. Leland facilitates workshops, events, and other pop-ups alongside Outlet’s other owner and founder Kate Bingaman-Burt. They also teach graphic design as an adjunct professor at Portland State University, sit on the board of the Independent Publishing Resource Center, and are one of the founding organizers of POP! Printmakers of Portland, a group dedicated to building print community in the greater Portland area.

Artist Statement

Leland believes that print is a powerful equalizer — a tangible, accessible tool for sharing information, sparking dialogue, and facilitating mutual aid. Their practice is rooted in making print and design approachable for everyone, whether through risograph printing, zines, or community-driven workshops. Printmaking isn’t just a medium — it’s a democratizing force that can build community and amplify long-underrepresented voices. As a printmaker and educator they are dedicated to creating spaces where people can learn, experiment, and connect through the printed form.
